The Venice of Portugal
We have enjoyed a beautiful couple of days in Aveiro, also known as the Venice of Portugal! The town is a few hours north of Lisbon and boasts a canal with charming boat tours and picture perfect views.
In Aveiro we've enjoyed a walking tour as well as a boat tour, and plenty of delicious food.
We began today by kayaking on the Vouga River, stopping along the way to learn about the local flora and the river ecosystem.
In the afternoon, we enjoyed a picnic lunch before heading to a tour of the dam. Students learned about hydraulic energy production, the impacts of dams on ecosystems, and the science and strategy behind energy storage and distribution.
We're looking forward to another full day here before heading back toward Lisbon!
XO,
Libby and Jing
