¡Un viaje maravilloso a Madrid!
¡Hola!
This past weekend the Global Navigators took a weekend trip to Madrid, the capital of Spain.
Friday ~ We arrived to Madrid Friday afternoon and started the trip off with a Flamenco show. Students enjoyed seeing the techniques that they had learned previously in their own Flamenco class.
Saturday ~ Saturday was a jam packed day full of activities and exploring. The group started their day with a tour of El Esadio Bernabéu Real Madrid's soccer stadium. The students were able to walk on the field, visit the locker rooms, and see the many trophies that the team has earned.
Later, the trip continued with a visit to El Prado, one of the most important classical art musuems in Europe. Students saw artwork from El Greco, Goya, Velázquez and many more.
After the museum students had some free time to explore to city and do some shopping, while others took some time to visit other plazas and famous parts of the city.
Sunday ~ Before heading back to Alicante, students spent their morning on a bike tour of Parque del Retiro, a public park with beautiful gardens and a lot of history.
As we got ready to leave students talked about how they can't wait to come back and visit Madrid again someday. Madrid seems to have that effect on you with it's royal arqitecture, rich history, and an overall undeniable charm. After a six hour bus ride home, we rolled into Alicante around dinner time. Students were greeted by their host families and experienced the feeling of being happy to be back "home" in Alicante.
