Tajine Tuesday
Students participated in a cultural cooking class with local youths from the youth center on Tuesday. They got to practice their language skills with the kids from the youth center, by going into the community and shopping for the ingredients for their cooking class. “I scream, you scream, everyone scream “TAJINEEEEEE.”
Tajine is a traditional Moroccan slow cooked savory dish. It is typically made with meat, chicken, or fish and lots of vegetables. Students enjoyed this cross cultural activity as they learned to cook like a Moroccan. While the tajine was getting just right, our students participated in different activities such arts and crafts and theater games. Once the tajine was finished, everyone ate and enjoyed their delicious food. Of course followed by Moroccan tea, students were full and happy as the day concluded.
