Student Takeover: Shii-Ann Wallace
Blog written by Shii-Ann Wallace, a student at Brooklyn Technical High School in New York.
A big part of Dominican culture is mural art that portrays Dominican pride and political, cultural and environmental issues in the country. You can see these murals by walking the streets in the shopping areas of Santiago de Los Caballeros. Another big part of Dominican culture is carnival de vega. It’s traditional dress up in glitzy clothing and multiple colors to celebrate República Dominicana’s independence from Spain.
P.S. find me on Instagram @shiiperspective to see more of study abroad life in the DR!
