Student Post: Ruby G.
From walking through quicksand at Mont-Saint-Michel, to enjoying hot beignets at Saint-Malo, to simply walking through le Centre-Ville on my way to class in the morning, my experience in Rennes was amazing! Not only did I meet amazing friends, try delicious food, and experience the culture of Bretagne, but my French improved drastically in just a few weeks. I don’t think I’ve ever spoken so much French in my life, but I’m certainly glad I have. My host family was supportive and welcoming— my host mom helped me feel right at home with home-cooked meals after a long day. While it wasn’t always easy to adjust to a new culture and to speaking in French, I always felt supported by friends, CIEE Staff, and my host family. This experience has inspired me to continue my studies in language, and I would love to study abroad again!
