Saturday Excursion to Valldemossa and Port de Sóller
We closed out a great first week with an excursion to Valldemossa and Port de Soller on Saturday.
First, we traveled by bus to el pueblo de Valldemossa, the birthplace of Santa Catalina Thomas, Mallorca's patron saint.
Valldemossa is situated in the Tramuntana mountains and was our first trip outside of the city!
First, we learned a bit about the importance of the village, including that it has hosted greats such as Frédéric Chopin and Ruben Darío. Then, we spent the morning touring the picturesque streets with walls lined with plants and flower pots and tried freshly made “coca de patata”, the area’s typical sweet. It was also a great place to take photos!
The day was filled with photos, in fact, especially at our next stop on the excursion: un mirador”, a lookout spot.
After taking in the incredible views, we made our way down the mountains a bit to Port de Soller where we enjoyed a dip in the beautiful water and relaxed in the sun.
