Musée d’Orsay and Shoah memorial visit

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, students were split into two groups to visit two very diverse sites here in Paris. Students visited the Musée d’Orsay and the Memorial de la Shoah. 

The Musée d’Orsay is a former train station that is now home to one of the largest collections of impressionist art. Students were asked to find a piece of art that somehow represented them or a part of their life and come back and explain it to program leaders. 

The Memorial de la Shoah is a memorial dedicated to French citizens who were deported or who died in the holocaust. Our guide did a great job of explaining this terrible event to our students, and our students were very moved by all that they witnessed at the memorial.

This weekend we will be going to Normandy to learn about World War II in France. Students will be able to connect the events of the holocaust (Shoah) to the subsequent events of World War II.
