Looking Forward to a Better You
Hello everyone!

My name is Maylén and I am one of the program leaders for Toulouse Session 1. I am very excited to accompany these incredible 44 students on this life-changing journey. As a native Spanish speaker from Cuba and an immigrant to the United States now turned French teacher, my experiences studying and volunteering abroad have left an indelible mark upon my life.

I am thus confident that our outstanding group will be positively impacted by this month-long adventure. They will improve their French language skills. They will bond with each other creating life-long friendships with like minded peers.

They will become better communicators in every sense of the word, as successful communication requires not only knowledge of the language and culture, but also knowledge of the heart of the other.
You may think that a month is a short time, but experiences such as this one are very intense and enriching. Students, do not be surprised if you go home feeling like a different, better version of yourself. Parents and friends, do not be surprised if the person you welcome back at the airport on July 7 seems more knowledgeable, more centered, more compassionate, and more confident to create positive change in the world.
