Learning a New City
In The Innocents Abroad, Mark Twain wrote, "One must travel, to learn." While traveling abroad, students not only learn about new countries and cultures; they also learn about themselves. They step beyond their comfort zones, find indepdence, and gain confidence. One way they do this is through exploration. On our first day in the Dublin City Center, students were given a walking tour highlighting all of the important spots (Trinity College, Temple Bar District, Ha'penny Bridge, General Post Office, and Grafton Street, just to name a few).
Once they had their bearings, students split into groups for a scavenger hunt in the city. Maps in hand, they learned to navigate, ask for directions, and problem solve.
