La Almudaina
Yesterday we toured La Almudaina, the royal palace in Mallorca. The “Almudaina” which means “fortress” in arabic, was built during the Muslim era and was later converted into the Christian palace after they conquered the island.
During the tour, we also took in some beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea, which at one point flowed right up against the walls of the Almudaina.
Nowadays, the king and queen of Spain use the palace as their residence when they are visiting the island of Mallorca for official meetings and events.
The guide spoke to us exclusively in Spanish and the kids, along with their program leaders, were very impressed with how well they were able to understand all of the information.
