Getting Acquainted in Palma
Yesterday, we spent the day getting to know each other and the program better. During the orientation, students learned everything they need to know about the program and how to get the most out of their experience in Palma.
After orientation, the students participated in a “gymkana”, a scavenger hunt throughout Palma in order to get to know the city better and to begin to practice communicating with the locals. Students had to work together to interpret clues to get them from one place to the next.
After a full day of orientation, the students finally settled in with their host families. Both the students and their new families were excited to meet each other. In their homestay setting the students will be fully immersed in the Spanish culture and language and it is often one of the most fruitful experiences of their time abroad, particularly as they build relationships with their Spanish families. Here are some photos from the greetings!
