Missión Ñ

What is that you ask? This is an amazing opportunity to connect what happens in class with the real world. Natalie, like a few others, shared that she had no idea this was part of the deal!!

The first Missión Ñ was the hardest. Like anything new it can be scary and almost painful. Students needed to go ask locals suggestions of where to visit. Some people didn't have time to talk, others did not want to be recorded, but some were more than happy to help. So we all put our "Hablemos Español" pen on and stepped out into the streets.

Deeya calmly approaches a local in a suit, hoping he won't walk away. Success! She had a really long, great conversation supported by her partner Jaimie. Great job!

Katie felt a little crushed that no one would take a moment, until she encountered this older man that was so happy to help a student learn a little about his town and his language.

Jaimie has shown amazing growth with her confidence in gernal, but definately in her Spanish skills. You can see her here in a short video surrounded by local students laughing about something. Amazing growth from being afraid to talk to a stranger, to being able to comfortably joke around with an entire group. ¡Bien hecho!

Part of learning and growing is to see that you are not alone. At the local school we listened as the locals (12-16 year olds) struggled to introduce themselves in English in their charming accents. Then it was our turn. You can see our very own Natalie (what struggle???), Stella, and Denisse introducing themselves here.

Very proud of all of the growth that is happening and it has only been one week!!
