Exploring Fine Arts and Classic Traditional Culture of Buenos Aires.
This week students were exposed to what is truly emblematic of Argentine artistic culture: art, theatre and a historic cafe. Students explored MALBA (Museo De Artes Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires) where they studied and admired carefully curated art pieces of private art collection of the Eduardo Constantini foundation. Students delighted in appreciating pieces from world renowned Latin American artists such as Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Argentina’s own Antonio Berni. Next on the agenda was a visit to Teatro Colon, with its opulent architecture and fine acoustics ranks among the worlds best opera houses. Students enjoyed a guided tour of the ornate and elegant space while able to hear some performers rehearse . The theatre is gearing up for its upcoming performance of Bizet’s Carmen. The students visited Buenos Aires’ El Gato Negro, a classic and traditional cafe in the heart of the city, established in 1927 and recognized as a historical landmark. The kids sat to enjoy the sweet, buttery confection medialuna, with a delicious and hot cafe con leche .
