A day in the Bastille Neighborhood!
Week three in Paris has been full of fun, engaging and educational cultural afternooon excursions! One of the neighborhoods that our group explored this week was near the Bastille.
We saw the famous Bastille monument and learned about the history of the Bastille prison, and how the storming of the Bastille is said to be one of the first acts of the French Revolution. Nearby, we walked to one of Paris' most instagram famous streets "Rue Crémieux, " a little pedestrian side street full of vibrant colored buildings. We took some our of own instagram worthy pictures and then headed for a walk on the famous "Promenade Plantée". This is an elevated greenway built in 1993 on former railroad tracks. It is a beautiful, shaded respite from the hustle and bustle of the city streets below.
Next, we stopped for an ice cream for a sweet ending to our fantastic day!
