Cooking Sweets!
Today we participated in another cooking class at the Taller Andaluz - what a great time!! We learned how to make two typical sweets from Seville - tarta de abuela and pestiños. Both my group and Stacie's attended the 4:00pm workshop this afternoon in which students showcased their ever-developing Spanish skills and learned new cultural norms through baking.
Upon arrival, the excitement in the air was palpable. It was such a joy to see the interactions between the students during this workshop versus our first cooking class at Taller Andaluz in week one. The students were obviously much more comfortable with each other (I know they will all miss their new friends terribly following this Saturday's despedida)! Likewise, students were noticeably more comfortable using Spanish to communicate with the head chef and her team.
However, the true test will present itself when students return home: will they be able to recreate these sweets for you, their beloved family and friends, at home?? We'll find out soon! Check out the images attached to see just how much we enjoyed ourselves this afternoon in the Taller Andaluz!!
