Development & Communications Internship - Docomomo US
Company overview
Docomomo US is a national nonprofit organization dedication to the documentation and conservation of the sites, architecture, landscapes, and design of the Modern Movement. The intern will assist with a variety of tasks and get a general overview of what it is like to work at a small and growing nonprofit. Training for all necessary tasks will be provided.
Internship overview
We are a small but dedicated organization and would be happy to introduce the right person to the nonprofit/historic preservation field. The intern is welcome to attend events such as Tour Day and the Modernism Awards. The following are a sample of potential items an intern could take on, depending on their skill set and interests.
- Documentation: Assist in maintaining, updating, and adding sites to the Docomomo US “Explore Modern” register, an online database of midcentury sites across the country
- Programming: Assist in planning and execution of Docomomo US’ signature annual events: Tour Day and the Modernism in America Awards
- Communications: Assist in outreach and communications related to Docomomo US mission and programming, including through social media, email newsletter, website, and press releases
- Fundraising: Assist with the Docomomo US version of Giving Tuesday, called the “Doco Games” which is a bracket-style competition where opponents face-off in a social media fundraising showdown
Suggested qualifications
- Interest in architecture, art, and design as well as history, culture, and preservation
- Strong communication skills
- High maturity and professionalism; ability to jump in to a small and speedy team
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
