Biography

Petra Key is in charge of CIEE Prague course portfolio. She manages the CIEE Prague faculty and courses, and is responsible for the cooperation with academic partner institutions. 

Petra Key was appointed the Academic Director in January 2017. Previously she worked as an Academic Coordinator and a CIEE faculty member, teaching Czech language classes and the Intercultural Communication and Leadership course. Her responsibilities include the management of CIEE Prague faculty and courses, cooperation with academic partner institutions and ensuring high quality of academic instruction through regular work with the faculty, including methodology workshops and advising, class visits and mentoring new instructors.

Petra Key holds a master’s degree in English and American Studies and in Czech Studies from the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. Her thesis focused on the perception of the other in the early American history, “Otherness in the Works of the First Puritans”. As part of her master’s program, she spent two semesters at the University of Texas at Austin, USA, focusing on American literature, philosophy and history. Following graduation, she managed English language programs at a private language school, which also included managing and teaching methodology classes, and language assessment and testing. She also cooperated with the Department of English Language and ELT Methodology and with the Department of Anglophone Literatures and Cultures, Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague, having developed and managing a preparatory program for potential students of English and American Studies, focusing on different skills and knowledge areas required from prospective students in this field.
