Biography

  • Jianhua Bai is Professor of Chinese at Kenyon College and Director of Chinese School of Middlebury College. He teaches Chinese language, linguistics and Chinese language pedagogy and won the 2012 Senior Faculty Trustee Teaching Excellence Award of Kenyon College. His research interests include foreign language education and assessment, integration of technology into the CFL curriculum and action research. He served on the Executive Board of the Chinese Language Teachers Association for two terms and as President in 2004. He is a board member of the International Society of Chinese Language Teaching. He has been actively engaged in other professional activities such as organizing international conferences, evaluating journal articles of his field, such as the Foreign Language Annals and the Journal of Technology and Chinese Language Education, evaluating faculty performance for both Kenyon and other institutions, serving as Senior Academic Advisor (Flagship curriculum) for American Council of International Education, chairing the AP Chinese Language and Culture Exam Development Committee, developing multimedia Learning Objects for the National Foreign Language Center at University of Maryland, and serving on the National Advisory Board for the Center for Language Education And Research of Michigan State University. He also conducts training workshops for teachers of all levels, K-16.
