My American Internship: Emmanuel D.
Our "My American Internship" series features CIEE BridgeUSA participants who submitted entries to our photo essay contest. Emmanuel D. of France works as an associate scientist at Genoskin in Salem, Massachusetts.
My American internship experience has been nothing short of amazing. I’ve had the chance to live in Boston, and I really love it here. The city isn’t too big, it’s super walkable, and there are so many nice places to roam around and enjoy, from parks and riversides to lively neighborhoods and cool cafés.
One of the best parts of this adventure has been all the incredible trips I’ve taken, like exploring New York City and visiting the Grand Canyon. Seeing those places for the first time was incredible. They're the kind of places you’ve seen in photos a thousand times, but being there in person is something else!
In Boston, I’ve also joined the Midnight Runners, a running club that’s helped me stay active, meet awesome people from all over the world, and see the city in a whole new way – especially during those night runs with music blasting!
Most of all, I’ve made great friendships and shared unforgettable moments. And, of course, my English has improved a lot! It’s still not perfect (far from it, haha), but I feel much more confident now, and that’s a big win for me.
