Taking a Chance or How I Decided to Teach in South Korea
The thought of spending a year away from my family and everything I am familiar with is daunting. Having to pack up your life in maybe one or two bags, for a fashionable girl like me let's be real, it's almost impossible! As a wise man once said though, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”― Mark Twain
So this is me taking off on that adventure. I don't want to look back on my life and see someone who played it safe and stayed where comfort was within easy reach. This world is big, beautiful, and bountiful. Full of lush landscapes that I have yet to experience and I want to reach out.
South Korea is the most recent locations in my pursuit of discovery. I am still in the process of getting all my paperwork together, doing interviews, researching this amazing new country I will be calling my home for a year. I will be working on my TEFL certification come October, making sure that I am good to go when I step on that plane.
Thankfully I have many friends and family that are being supportive of this decision. I am even lucky enough to have friends who either grew up in Korea or have family that still live there! You can be sure that I will be picking their brains and asking for advice prior to leaving the States. Hopefully I can pass some of this advice on to y'all!
Till next time Darlin'
