A visit to Mexico City
This weekend we had an action packed weekend in Mexico City!
First up, Teotihuacán!
Seeing this ancient city was definitely a hit among our students! Some were very "impressed" with the nopales!
On Saturday, we checked out the city on foot. We were able to see the highlights of the city, for example the Palacio Nacional and the Templo Mayor. It was awesome to be in a city full of excitement for Mexico's first World Cup game... spoiler alert... they won!
Our kiddos had a blast exploring... they even joined in some spontaneous street dancing!
For dinner on Saturday, we went to the gorgeous Xochimilco, a series of canals and "floating" gardens. We boarded one of the boats and floated down the canals and enjoted a delicious dinner of tamales!
After we ate, we stopped at one of the "floating" gardins to see how all of the plants are grown. We even planted some cilantro and picked some squashes!
On Sunday we finished out our trip with visits to the Castillo de Chapultepec, the Museo de Antropologia, and a stroll through el Parque del Chapultepec. It was a long weekend, but a fun one!
We also stumbled upon some traditional dancers who offered spiritual "cleansings" and a few of the kiddos decided to participate.
All in all it was an amazing weekend full of sun, laughs, history, and fun!
