Travels to Cape Town
On Thursday, we were once again ripped from our beds for an early 8am breakfast, before packing and making our way to the Joburg airport. CIEE really spoiled us getting priority boarding - we got to skip the line checking our bags and get the special security line. Once again, many were cursed with a middle seat. I was blessed with a window seat, and then further pampered when no one showed up for the two seats beside me. I am in the small minority who had comfort and a nice nap on the plane ride. Arriving in the Cape, we were thrilled to see the beach a mere 200 meters from our front door, and all piled into our bunk beds to get settled for the next 2 weeks. Walking to a nearby restaurant for dinner, David, Suzy and Emilio learned a valuable lesson on sharing steak, while Isaiah and I had a lovely lemonade/tea/ginger beer taste testing party. David scouted out a nearby Starbucks for the morning, and we all had a heartfelt reflection before snuggling our new CIEE blankets and drifting to sleep - well most of us. Some of us had the privilege of hearing a second hand concert from the piano players and singers downstairs. I could very clearly hear Piano Man and Imagine from my quarters. Slumped from a day of travel, we were looking forward to our first full day in the Cape!!
