TOUCHDOWN IN MEXICO! Student post by Paige R.
Today marks the first full day of classes after arriving in Merida, Mexico. After the long and busy day of flying into the country on Sunday, students participated in orientation sessions on Monday. These orientations covered information about classes, homestays, and safety. In between orientation sessions students were able to bond with their homestay families over breakfast, lunch, and dinner, enjoying their first tastes of Yucatecan cuisine. This morning began with Zoom classes where students met their teachers and classmates. After class, they were able to get out into the city of Merida. At El Parque de las Américas, a public park in Merida, students were able to talk with locals about their favorite activities and foods in Merida, as well as participate in team building activities with their classmates. Tonight, students will continue to bond with their homestays while keeping track of their experiences through quizzes, journals, and projects.
My classmates and I are very excited to settle into the routine and immersion in Mexico this week! We have officially dove into our adventure to learn more about many things including the Spanish Language and Mexican Culture, but most importantly, about ourselves.
