Today we are featuring a “Student Take-Over” with Dox Raskin. Read his entry below to catch a perspective from a student:

“I write this from my bedroom, looking out on the mountains that surround Pisac. As usual, I came home from class today to enjoy a delicious lunch with my family whom I adore. This is my second day back from Machu Picchu, and I’m still amazed. It is one thing to see photos or to read about a place like Machu Picchu, but it is entirely different to visit an acient city, to walk on paths constructed for rulers of a civilization that disappeared long ago, to witness the vast scale of the forgotten city. I realize, now, how lucky I am to be able to travel to one of the Seven Wonders of the World. There is an indescribable spectacular quality about Machu Picchu which I will hold onto for the rest of my life. However, Machu Picchu is not the highlight of my trip. The highlight is my host family. They are some of the most caring, kind and enjoyable people that I have ever met. When on one of the weekend excursions, I retired late from Cusco, due to unforeseen setbacks, my family drove to Cusco to look for me. These are people who will do anything for a practical stranger. This is a trip of a lifetime and I can’t wait to see what these next two weeks will bring!”
