STUDENT BLOG- Bess P.
Back home, I often hear a story called the "Starfish Story". The basic gist of the story is that, even if you can't help everyone or make a difference in the numbers of people who need help, you can make a difference for one individual and that is an incredible thing in itself. The kid in the middle of the photo spent almost the entire morning sitting on the sidelines. He didn't want to play or talk to anyone. He eventually came out of his shell, played, talked and laughed with all of us. Sure, we can't change the situations in which these children live or give them all of the resources that we wish they could have, but we can get them to play and smile and that's making a difference. -Bess P.
