Si vive bene a Ferrara!

Andrew Serio here, one of two program leaders on this summer's Ferrara Language and Culture program for Session I. Our young navigators continue to ambientarsi (settle in) here in Ferrara this week. The daily schedule consists of Italian lessons in class, conversations with the locals, lunch in a typical local restaurant and then an activity which immerses our participants into the fabric of this excellent Medieval and Renaissance city in Italy's Emilia-Romagna region.
On Wednesday June 12th, after a morning in class and a delicious lunch, the navigators engaged in a caccia al tesoro (treasure hunt) in which the the particpants, divided into five teams, had to explore the city center in search of details that would give insight into the historic past of the city. The navigators had a great time following the clues on their cel phones in order to spot these sometimes hidden-in-plain-sight landmarks.
Some of our participants are navigating the city by bicycle, a great tradition in Ferrara, while others get around on foot or by bus. Their us of Italian is consistent, and after only a few days, notable improvements have been made!
