¡PLAZA DE TOROS Y OLÉ! A visit to the Ventas bullfighting ring
One of our first cultural activities in this session has been a visit to one of the most important bullfighting rings in the world: Plaza de Toros de las Ventas.
We are going through a heat wave here in Madrid, so we made sure that we waited in the shade for all the groups in the session to get together and start our guided tour.
Once we were in, we had a blast! It was so interesting to hear all about the history of bullfighting in Spain and in the world. Even those of us who are not fans of the practice gained a lot of general knowledge, learned new facts and enjoyed the visit. Our students were so interested and curious: they asked amazing questions, they had a go with the capote (the cape used by the fighters in the ring) and some of them even had the opportunity to try a 3D simulation of a bullfight!
Despite the heat, the visit felt short and at the end we were all ready to cry out Olé!
