¡Hola from Session 2 in Pisac, Peru! Perhaps needless to say, just getting to Pisac was bit of adventure due to storms and many cancelled and delayed flights. However, as of this morning, we have all safely arrived. Students were champions throughout this process and took changes in travel plans in stride, learning the much needed skills of being resourceful and flexible travelers.

Our first day of classes was Monday. Students dove in to speaking Spanish right from the get go with their instructor Dalila and added their hands to the pledge wall, promising to try to speak only in Spanish during their time in Peru to make the most of their study abroad experience.

On Monday night, students met their host families who they will be staying with during our time in Pisac. Everyone was nervous for this moment, but you could see some of the nerves melting away as they hugged their new host moms, dads, and siblings. Check out the gallery above for some host family photos!

Today, after morning classes and our community conversation, students took a tour of Pisac and conversed with students from a local school. It was wonderful to see the cultural exchange between the students, and many surprised themselves and grew in confidence as they realized how much they were able to communicate.

Overall, our first few days have been intense but rewarding. Students are getting their Spanish-speaking brains active and adjusting to the altitude and rhythm of life here in Pisac.
