A Multi Ethnic China
How do ethnicity and sustainability relate? In times of water crisis, should freshwater be conserved for the Dai water throwing festival? Should Tu traditions be maintained when it's easier for a government to enact policy designed for a single, homogenous people?
Yesterday, our Discoverers grappled with these questions in class and at Beijing's Ethnic Park, where different areas are sectioned to represent some of the 56 unique ethnic groups in China beyond the dominant Han ethnicity. It was a long hot day, which ended in a nice reminder of home (McDonald's for dinner)!
