Into the Mountains!
We waved goodbye to our Japanese teachers as we left the Olympic Center and made our way to the base of Mt. Fuji. Unfortunately we only saw the base since the rest of the mountain was in a cloud. It didn't dampen our spirits, though, and we had a great lunch near Lake Kawaguchi. After that we went to the Maglev Linear test facility. We were lucky since it was a designated testing day. We had a chance to see the Maglev zoom past us at 500 km per hour a few times. Back at the hotel we switched into our yukata and some enjoyed the onsen (hot spring bath) before dinner. We had a wonderful dinner with many new and unfamiliar foods. Some students had to convince themselves to try some of the dishes, and many said they liked what they tried. The night finished with a rousing round of karaoke. Lots of talent in this group!
