We have arrived in Senegal safe and sound! Dakar, Senegal has been very welcoming. Teranga is a word that we hear a lot meaning hospitality and welcoming.

The flight to Senegal was an hour flight which we arrived in the morning at 8:00 a.m. We where greeted by our host families for the first time. We live in a community called Sacre Coeur, we are all a few minutes away from each other participants.

The first few days have consist of us learning Wolof and about Senegal culture. Our Wolof teacher is simply amazing. Learning Wolof has helped us when speaking to  individuals on our neighborhoods.  We learned that in Senegal culture greetings are very important,  we are all well versed in Wolof Greetings.

This week we also had the opportunity to visit our volunteer site. Where we will be working with children that are called Tailbe, who are  are at Islamic schools in Senegal  who also beg in the streets.   We are eager to learn about Senegal and serve anyway we can.
