Kimchi Making!
Last week Seoul Navigators got to give back to the new community that they have been a part of.
They had the opportunity to do community service while participating in an activity that has been a part of Korean history for a long time. Kimchi making! The students learned about how there are a little over 200 types of kimchi (wow!) and were given the opportunity to make napa cabbage kimchi and donate it to the Seoul Senior Citizens Welfare Center.
The students learned the intricate steps of how to properly make kimchi such as soaking the cabbage in salted water, making sure each leaf of the cabbage was completely covered in the sauce mixture, and then finally swaddling the cabbage with its own leaves like a baby. The students enjoyed the kimchi making class and were excited that they were helping people at the same time. Now that they learned how to make kimchi, many of the students were excited to try making it on their own!
