halfway already?!

Here we are at the halfway mark--we can hardly believe how quickly that came up! This second week started off with a little bit of rain, but overall it has been sunny, humid, and HOT in Santo Domingo. The second week at Nichibosco has been impressive! Our participants are split between over ten different groups, and have been showing leadership in many ways. We've had participants lead games such as Duck Duck Gray Duck (which apparently is a very Minnesotan way of naming this game?!), hand clapping games, and even lead some popular dances from the US from the stage! We are enjoying the chance to connect with and share this experience with our friends at Nichibosco.

Now, let's hear from Rebecca about her experience at the summer camp so far:

"Service has honestly been life changing and we've only gone for a little bit now. I am learning so much from these kids. I am learning about their culture and them even though there is this language barrier. I feel like I am actually getting to know them through dance, songs, and even just interacting and being next to them and seeing how they interact with us. They are so sweet! Anytime you walk into a room with them you instantly get at least 3 hugs from all the kids. It has been amazing and I can't wait to continue service and take my experiences I have had here home and hopefully through this I change for the better."

Thanks so much for sharing this, Rebecca! You can see her below with some of her new friends.
