First day at the Albergue del Hospital
Today was our first day at the Albergue del Hospital, a temporary residence for families who come to Guanajuato because a loved one is in the hospital, but do not have a place to stay. The albergue has been running for over 20 years and runs entirely on donations and volunteers.
Our task for the next six days will be to not only assist the staff with their daily activities--cooking, cleaning, meeting with residents--but also painting the entire outside of the building. So today, we got to work! Step one: clean the walls and prepare them for painting. Our kiddos jumped right in... nobody was afraid to get dirty or climb up the tall ladders.
I know everyone is excited to start priming and painting tomorrow! ¡Hasta mañana!
