Don't go elsewhere... - Aspen Harrison
Throughout my experience in South Africa, we have explored many types of adventures from townships to Table Mountain. I have seen the strength of a country trying to rebuild after the injustice of apartheid and I find it amazing how honest and forward South Africans are with their past.
Before choosing South Africa, I was going to apply to France and I'm so glad I didn't. I'm so glad that I have the ability to completely recognize my perspective as a privileged, white, American girl. And those strengths I am learning here will mean far more to me than the year of skipped French Class.
If you want to be blown away by honest, friendly, and intelligent people who are aware of what changes still need to come in their home, come to South Africa. You will not regret the personal journey you will have here. Regardless of where you come from, this is where you need to be.
I assure you, France will always be there, but this kind of experience won't. Don't go to France, Cape Town is calling.
