Our last week... I don't think any of us can believe that we're so close to saying goodbye.

This week has been calm, as if giving us time to absorb and reflect on everything we've experienced. The kids are preparing their final presentation, where each one will have the opportunity to share their experiences in front of the rest of the group through words, photos and videos.

On the other hand, yesterday (Wednesday), we had the opportunity to go to our last excursion outside the city to the Carnival Museum in La Vega. The carnival of La Vega is the most important, colorful and anticipated in the Dominican Republic. At the museum, everyone had the chance to paint their own mini-mask of the "Diablo Cojuelo Vegano," letting their creativity flow through their hands with a unique blend of colors. They learned the history behind the main characters of the carnival in the Dominican Republic and then we returned to Santiago for a well-deserved rest. On our way home, we could feel a certain sadness from the approaching physical separation. Physical separation because our hearts will be united by the indescribable bond that is usually formed in these unforgettable experiences.

How interesting the contrasting dance of life is: vibrant colors and cool colors, encounters and farewells, smiles and tears. Contrast among so many completely different personalities that managed to mix together to create the best of shakes.

May the world know that these flavors were here, touching our hearts, giving life a different meaning, spreading joy and love in its purest form. These kids are still here, changing the world for so many people... including ours.
