Comunidad Amaru
Yesterday, our Pisac group had the opportunity to connect on a deeper level with the Andean people. We visited a unique and remote community that specializes in artesan weaving. First, we were greeted with a line of community members, delicately placing flower necklaces around us and loose flower petals.

We were graciously welcomed by Don Gregorio, who gave us an introduction to what our cultural activity would be for the afternoon. We listened to the explanations about the dyeing process and ways the Amaru community exchanges other goods for certain colors.

Most of us had the opportunity to learn the weaving process one-on-one with an Amaru community member. It was such an incredible experience!

After about an hour, it was time to say goodbye. We departed the same way we came in -- through a greeting line. Saying goodbye to each member of the Amaru community was bittersweet, and we will always remember the life-long impact of integrating with such a beautiful community.
