Bienvenidos a Santiago!
After long fligths and airport security checks, we finally arrived in Santiago de los Cabelleros! Everyone was super excited to start this journey and after leaving the airport we all went to our host houses. The students are paired up in their houses so it was a great time for them to get to know each other. This morning we woke up bright and early for our first day of orientation in Jarbacoa. The weather was very nice and we had some rain which kept us cool. First, we went over all the rules and expectations as well as health and safety guidelines before taking a break for lunch. We ate the finest Dominican cuisine including rice and beans (a staple of every Dominican lunch), tostones, chicken, salad and eggplant. With our bellies full, we had some free time before heading to a waterfall. We hiked a short trail and went down some stairs until we arrived right at the base. The water was a bit cold but that didn't stop the students from jumping right in! After playing in the water we headed back to Rancho Jarbacoa to pack our things and head back to Santiago. Well, that's all for now! Buenas noches!
