Arte a tope en Madrid!
This week our global navigators in the advanced program have been exploring their artistic sides. It is only Wednesday and we've seen the Reina Sofia museum, interviewed a local artist, and some of us even tried our hand at painting ceramics! At the Reina Sofia students were immersed in art while exploring works from famous Spanish painters like Salvador Dali, Joan Miro, and Pablo Picasso. The Reina Sofia is home to one of the most well known Spanish paintings called "Guernica" by Pablo Picasso. We were stunned to see this moving piece of art along with many other masterpieces. On Tuesday we got the chance to visit an art gallery and interview a local artist named Marco Godoy. He took us on a tour of his art and explained his vision in great detail, we loved this opportunity to communicate face to face with such a talented and passionate artist.
Last night was the first time we divided into "barrio" groups to do activities. Some of us toured a traditional local market, another group went to visit an arquelogical museum, and another group had the chance to try our hand at being artists with a ceramics class.
This week we are excited to see our first movie in a Spanish cinema and try our chance at the other activities we haven't already participated in.
We can't wait to share more with you!
Hasta pronto :-)
