(Open) Television Show Communications & Hosting Internship - AfroGist Media
Company overview
AfroGist Media is an Afro-ethnic and community multimedia platform with an aim to inform, inspire, and entertain. We seek to use our space to amplify the voices that won’t otherwise be heard, and leverage opportunities in media to build and promote the force needed to strengthen our community. We creatively curate multi-media editorial content and community resources, provide media coverage for events, run video streaming services to support rising and accomplished artists in our community, and offer brand and marketing strategies on new markets to our partners.
Internship overview
- Work collaboratively with the team in identifying and designing show topics
- Explore figures and personalities that are key in participating and driving talks
- With guides and support, schedule and outreach show guests including sending out invitations and conducting follow ups
- Join in brainstorming useful questions that would serve the audience
- Participate sometimes in the show by engaging guests, co-hosts and audiences in discourses
- Join the team and the production crew in breaking down production equipment and stage/location cleaning
- Be available at studio on show days at least an hour prior to brief with the team and/or welcome guests
- Mic guests as needed/as trained
- Perform other related support roles as assigned
- Gain the opportunity to network and meet who is who within Afro-diaspora community
Suggested qualifications
This role is ideal for students with a career focus or interest in communication, TV and social media personalities, community advocacy, event/stage management, production management, and project management.
