Arts Program Management Internship - The Kitchen

The Kitchen is one of New York’s oldest nonprofit spaces, showcasing innovative work by emerging and established artists across disciplines. Their programs range from dance, music, performance and theater, to video, film and fine art, in addition to literary events, artists’ talks, and lecture series.

Internship overview

Intern will assist with researching and organizing upcoming exhibitions, performances, and events at The Kitchen, including the development of timelines, checklists, and printed matter. Intern will be introduced to issues relating to contemporary visual and performing arts, and will obtain administrative and curatorial skills by aiding in daily operations, implementing short-term and long-term projects, and providing general support. Intern will also assist with The Kitchen archives by filing materials and helping create content for the archive website. Additionally, interns work in the gallery as monitors and assist with evening receptions and events. 

Suggested qualifications

  • Familiar with the key ideas and figures in contemporary art 
  • Strong interest in time-based work (film, video, sound and performance) 
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
