One Month Down
Well, well, well it has been a minute! Last time we met there was a lot going on in terms of where I was living. I’m happy to report now, after 4 weeks of living here, we have a working toaster oven for our pizzas, a new washer (with a door!!), and WiFi! Our AC still turns into Niagara Falls on occasion, but since it has been getting cooler we have been keeping the windows open and keeping the soda bottle empty.
Last week was the first week of school for the language assistants, and I can say that everyone survived! As usual, there are some cultural things that will take some getting used to, but we will discuss that at a different time.
When I studied abroad last summer (2017), I decided to make videos of my adventures abroad, not knowing when I would return to Europe or do as much traveling at one time. I took inspiration from the “1 Second A Day” concept, but instead of limiting it to 1-second every day, I simply took videos on my phone of what we were doing, where I was, the people I was with, etc. I decided to do that again over the course of this next year while in Madrid.
Of course, there are plenty of moments I was so caught up in that I didn’t think to take out my camera, so this is just a very small glimpse into what life in September was like in Madrid.
