Goodbye to the Old, Hello to the New
I am days away from my departure to Madrid. As the excitement fills me up I am overwhelmed with fear and worry of the unknown. One thing I need to note is that I am always searching for more, I love getting comfortable in the uncomfortable. I find something compelling about the unknown and I am ready for it. I don't know what my life will be like in Madrid but I am very optimistic about it, I am eager to learn about a new culture and live a different lifestyle than what I am used to. I am used to my California lifestyle; going to work out in the morning at a spin studio, then grabbing an iced coffee and going to the beach, always finding myself busy and running around. This experience is going to allow me to take a step back from my hectic lifestyle and focus on the elements right in front of me. I want to focus on the authentic relationships that will be formed during my time in Madrid and take in all the country has to offer. Something that drew me into the Spanish culture is the importance of their quality of life, I am curious about the impact that connections, family, and culture has on a person while living in Spain. As we say our goodbyes to the old and hello to the new, I urge others to enjoy being comfortable in the uncomfortable, and remember that we are all in this together. It won't always be easy, but if we open our minds and hearts, this experience will be life-changing.
