What can you expect from your CIEE courses?

CIEE believes in student-centered experiential learning. We work with dozens of U.S. colleges and universities to offer courses designed to transfer to meet your degree requirements. Instruction is led by CIEE-trained and vetted faculty or by professors from local colleges and universities. We strive to build bridges between the academic cultures of the U.S. and of our host communities to help you adjust quickly and get the most out of your courses. Wherever you are learning with CIEE, courses incorporate local resources, cultures, and traditions for impactful learning. The world is your classroom.

CIEE stands for academic quality: we partner with leading academic institutions worldwide, have rigorous faculty standards, demanding courses, and provide meaningful internship and service-learning opportunities. A typical CIEE course earning three U.S. semester credit hours meets for 45 classroom, co-curricular, or placement hours, plus time for preparation, homework, and research. Attendance and participation are required. Study abroad is college.

Tulane University: CIEE School of Record

Tulane University

Tulane University is proud to serve as CIEE’s School of Record for most college and high school programs.

Tulane is committed to facilitating the highest level of quality in CIEE’s academic offerings so that it can confidently issue credit for CIEE courses. Tulane faculty provide substantive feedback on a broad sample of CIEE course syllabi on an annual basis. Tulane and CIEE faculty engage in pedagogical colloquia at a minimum of two locations annually, and Tulane’s associate dean for global education serves as an observer on CIEE’s International Program Advisory Council (IPAC).

Students who do not require a school of record transcript will receive the CIEE Academic Record (CAR) as a transcript of their courses and grades. Credit transfer and equivalencies are at the discretion of your home university. Please speak to your academic advisor before selecting your study abroad courses. Visit here for more information about transcripts and grades.
