Suleima is a recent college graduate from the University of San Francisco who majored in International Studies and double minored in Environmental Studies and African American Studies. In Madrid, Suleima looks forward to working with youth to improve biliteracy and cultural exchange. She also plans to increase her Spanish fluency while exploring the region.
Part of what you can expect when you move abroad is the unexpected - newness is the norm. From cultural differences on various levels, including the grocery shopping experience to the way kitchen appliances work, and the slower lifestyle, each day presents a lesson.
One thing I didn’t get to do in college as a result of Covid was study abroad. However, during the spring break of my last semester, I found out about opportunities where I could teach English in Spain and settled on CIEE’s Madrid program.
