Commitment to Diversity
Consistent with our mission, CIEE does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, age, sexual orientation, religion, marital status, national or ethnic origin, or disability. We are committed to creating opportunities for students from a wide variety of backgrounds to participate on our programs, and are involved in a number of initiatives to make that promise a reality.
We proudly collaborate with a number of associations, and advisory boards; sponsor committees and administer scholarships that encourage, promote and enable participants from underrepresented groups in study abroad to enjoy an international, educational experience.
CIEE and The Penn Center for Minority Serving Institutions
Following the success of the inaugural Study Abroad Leadership Workshop for Minority Serving Institutions, CIEE and The Penn Center for Minority Serving Institutions (CMSI) have partnered for three years of programming to produce integrated training and support programs for key constituents at MSIs. In March 2016, CIEE and CMSI published a report, "Increasing Diversity Abroad: Expanding Opportunities for Students at Minority Serving Institutions," that examines the lack of diversity in study abroad and offers recommendations to help MSIs overcome the unique financial and cultural challenges that prevent them from participating in study abroad opportunities.
