SUPPORT & SERVICES FOR HOST FAMILIES
Each exchange program experience is as unique as the student you host. There will be fun, discovery, heartwarming talks, achievements to be proud of, and so much to learn from one another.
There are bound to be challenges to go with the good times, and we’ll do all we can to assist. You can find most of the answers here, but don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions.
Some things about being a host family might seem so obvious you take them for granted. You’ll have a much better time if you don’t! Our online orientation helps you get started by answering many of your questions. Your Local Coordinator, or LC, will give you log-in information when you’re accepted as a host family, and will be there to help if you don’t find the answers you need.
For the latest information, be sure to check out our host family news blog. You’ll find fun things to do, profiles of host families, and useful reminders to keep you on track throughout your student’s stay. Check in often – you’ll always find something new.
Additional Help For Host Families
Your Local Coordinator
Your local coordinator is your contact that lives in your community and is there to support you. You will receive personal contact information at the start of the program and will meet them within your first couple days of arriving in the US. Throughout the program, they will check in with you every month to see how you are doing. If you are having an issue and need help, contact your LC-don’t wait for them to contact you!

Your CIEE Support Team is available from 9 a.m.–8 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday to help you with any questions, concerns or issues. You can also reach CIEE Support at email@example.com. If outside of business hours you have an emergency or need help, call the CIEE Emergency Line at 1-800-448-9944 and follow the prompts to speak with on-call staff who will assist you.
