My American Internship: Danial S. of Brunei
Our "My American Internship" series features CIEE BridgeUSA participants who submitted entries to our photo essay contest. Danial S. of Brunei served as a culinary intern at the Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
I’m just a few months into my CIEE BridgeUSA internship, and it’s already been an eye-opening experience. I’ve made friends from all over the world, picked up new culinary techniques at the restaurant, and even visited Disneyland, which truly lived up to its reputation as the happiest place on earth.
Being away from home can sometimes feel isolating, but I’ve been fortunate to meet amazing people who have supported me throughout this journey. In the kitchen, I’ve learned a lot from my chef. He’s been great at guiding me through mistakes and showing me how to improve.
As someone who loves thrills and is a huge Disney fan, visiting Disneyland California was a dream come true. It’s been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember, and going there with friends turned it into an unforgettable memory.
