Overview

During this program, students gain the experience and expertise that will complement their academic learning on the communications landscape in Prague.  They will develop professional skills, build networks, and deepen their understanding of real-world media environments. Every CIEE Faculty-Led & Custom program is a unique combination of high-quality academics and co-curricular activities and excursions that offer real-world experiences to enhance classroom learning.

Prague is a vibrant media and cultural center in Central Europe. The city's rich history and architecture create an inspiring backdrop for students of media and communications, where storytelling and cultural analysis are key components. Prague is home to several well-regarded universities offering communications programs and hosts international film festivals and media events. Students have the opportunity to take advantage of the city’s excellent resources for studying communications.

SITE VISITS

Here are just a few of the possibilities for co-curricular activities and excursions in Prague: 

  • A visit to a Czech radio station to see behind-the-scenes radio production and learn about roles in a radio team.
  • A visit to Václav Havel Library as an opportunity to explore the intersection of media, communication, and democratic values.
  • A visit to DOX Centre for Contemporary Art, an innovative space that explores themes of media, propaganda, social issues, and visual communication through interactive exhibits.
  • Museum of Communism offers a powerful look at propaganda, censorship, and media control in the former Czechoslovakia, ideal for analyzing media’s role in shaping public perception.

Every program is tailored to suit the needs of your academic goals – so every program has unique program inclusions and pricing based on your needs. In addition to the programmatic and cultural inclusions above, a standard CIEE custom program includes on-site orientation, 24/7 emergency support, in-country transportation, accommodations, some meals, classroom space, comprehensive insurance coverage and logistical support from our on-site CIEE staff. We also offer marketing templates and other valuable tools to help you get the word out to students.

Each of our sites is regularly assessed using international risk management standards and data to facilitate successful programs.
