CIEE’s International Program Advisory Council (IPAC) will convene next week in Tallinn, Estonia, for its summer advisory meeting, prior to attending the CIEE 14th Annual Global Internship Conference. While in Tallinn, the group will meet with CIEE staff to explore the intersections of global education, technology, and career development. IPAC will also join together with leading U.S. faculty and deans to advise CIEE in our Leading Change in Study Abroad: Creating Global Pathways for Technology and Engineering Students workshop.

IPAC recently expanded from 13 members to 21 members.

IPAC was established in 2023 to provide guidance to CIEE on the evolving needs of college and universities dedicated to expanding global education for all students. IPAC members represent a broad cross-section of CIEE partners, including large public universities, private colleges, Ivy League schools and HBCUs.

IPAC member institutions sent over 40,000 students on study abroad programs, according to Open Doors’ most recent data, accounting for nearly 15% of all students on study abroad programs from the U.S.

IPAC has helped CIEE develop new program models and funding programs that have led to record numbers of students studying abroad and interning abroad, especially students from underrepresented socio-economic backgrounds and students with demanding academic majors. IPAC-inspired innovations include expanding CIEE’s Open Campus model; creating CIEE’s Quarter In programs; expanding internships to summer and fall and with options for both part-time and full-time internship placements; and expanding CIEE’s study abroad programs into new areas, including Engineering, Technology, and Sciences; Ecology and Sustainability; and Sustainable Smart Cities.
